Anatomy with Hazel Porreca
Hazel teaches Anatomy to 1st Year students at The School of Equine Shiatsu and also runs an ‘East meets West’ workshop with Jill in year 3.
Hazel began riding when she was 2 years old and gained her BHSAI whilst still a teenager. When she was 14 she met an Equine Physiotherapist and having watched her work and seen the results, became determined that this was the career path for her. She initially studied Human Physiotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire where she gained her BSc, and then worked for a number of years in the NHS before joining The Children’s Trust, a charity based in Tadworth, Surrey which provides specialist care for severely disabled children many of whom have particularly complex health needs. During this time she studied for her MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy degree with the Royal Veterinary College.
Whilst Hazel continues to work in the NHS with children with special needs she also has her own Equine Physiotherapy practice in Sussex. She lives in Brighton with her husband Julian who is a professional musician and music teacher and their two children Bella and Franco.
