What is Equine Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a comprehensive system of natural therapy using the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Equine Shiatsu has been born using knowledge of Shiatsu on humans and the age-old practice of acupuncture on horses.
It works by using insight into the root of a problem rather than treating the symptoms. By regulating Qi (energy) in the channels or meridians that flow around the body, we can create harmony and balance, restoring a feeling of well being and vitality.
It is a sound, sensible therapy, not a luxury treatment, which uses gentle rotations on limbs, stretches and pressure on powerful points on these meridians. As a healing art it has been around for thousands of years and is a similar therapy to acupuncture.
The school uses a comprehensive system of teaching, encompasing TCM, Zen Shiatsu, Chinese Diagnosis, 5 element theory and combines these with western anatomy, physiology and pathology for an all round training.
Included in the first year’s fees is a membership of the EquineShiatsu Association (tESA) of which The School of Equine Shiatsu was a founder member. For more information please follow this link:
