Equine Shiatsu Courses

Student Group

Our philosophy is to bring together a group of like-minded individuals of all ages and from all walks of life with one common goal, to enhance their relationship with the horse and with one another with a view to going out into the community and sharing their training and experience with others. The journey starts here …

1-day workshop

This is structured to provide a fairly brief introduction to the art of shiatsu as applied to horses. The workshop is free of charge to those students who have already enrolled on the 2.5 year Diploma course and nicely bridges the gap between their application to join and actually starting the course, sometimes 6-months or more. A very limited number of spaces will be made available to others who have enquired about the 2-year course or simply would like to come for a taster day. In this case there will be a small charge deductible from their fees for the Diploma Course if they decide to enrol on that.

Foundation Course

This course stands on its own and offers a Foundation Course Diploma to students who meet the required standards. It is a three day course which runs in the spring and summer of each year over a long weekend, usually Friday through Sunday.

The syllabus includes a half day of “people-work”. This is fundamental to all of our courses as there is no way that you can successfully work on horses without knowing what it is like to be a receiver and a giver of Shiatsu. We cover the basics of centering techniques, Qi Gong, touching techniques, being grounded and understanding the principles of bodyweight and connectedness. We teach you to look and really see.

We follow this with two and a half days of horse work which includes observation and evaluation of the horse – standing and in motion. You will learn a complete body work out, including therapeutic stretches and rotations of limbs, neck and tail, relaxing and toning muscles, basic principles of Yin/Yang and Kyo/Jitsu, Qi (energy) imbalances, how to sedate and tonify Qi.

Completion of this course does not permit you to go out and give Shiatsu for renumeration. It is aimed at those people who want to give Shiatsu for relaxation to their own horses or animals belonging to their friends. In all instances, Veterinary permission must be sought and given.

2.5 year Diploma Course

For details of this course please contact us for a full Prospectus. The course starts in September of each year and you will be required to attend on a monthly basis through until June of the following year, with the exception of December. Jill’s workbook - “Equine Shiatsu - the journey starts here” - forms the basis of the course and students will receive a free copy of this on commencement of the course.

Students can pay for their course monthly by standing order or via paypal which will enable you to pay for your tuition according to your own budget.

Year 3 studies of the Diploma course

This 6 months section, the last of the diploma course, is very special and is described by students as “the icing on the cake”.  It is open to students from other equine shiatsu schools who have completed their studies with that school.  It comprises six weekends, each one a module in its own right, and  delves into great depths of shiatsu and other associated subjects.
